World Victory Road's Sengoku Tenth Battle is officially a wrap and it turned out to be a night of finishes, with Antz Nansen, Antonio Silva and Joe Doerksen being among the event's big winners.

The event took place early Wednesday morning, Sept. 23, from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. For those who missed the live airing of the event, the replay will air at 4:00 p.m. ET on Friday, Sept. 25, on HDNet.

In the main event, veteran kickboxer Antz Nansen made a successful MMA debut spoiling the debut of 2004 Olympic silver medalist Hiroshi Izumi via first round TKO. Izumi failed to impose his judo prowess against Nansen as the kickboxer picked him apart with punches and kicks right from the opening bell. A solid punch from Nansen connected flush on Izumi and knocked his legs out from under him. Once on the ground, Izumi was still hurt but he tried to defend himself, however, Nansen was relentless with his ground assault, scoring with a heavy right-left combination. The referee eventually halted the bout at 2:56 of the first round.

In the co-main event, former EliteXC heavyweight champion Antonio Silva picked up his sixth straight win by dispatching of the hard hitting Jim York vis first round submission. The bout started out slow but started to pick up when Silva attempted a takedown which sent York to the mat and out of the ring, the referee would force a restart. The only notable offense York could muster was solid right that connected flush on Silva. Silva would again take York to the mat, where he quickly passed guard, and then locked in a fight ending arm-triangle choke to force York to tap at 3:51 of the first round.

Also, in middleweight action, UFC veteran Joe Doerksen came close to finishing his opponent in the first round but would ultimately score a second round TKO over Takenori Sato. The win is Doerksen's fourth straight since losing three consecutive bouts in the WEC and UFC.

In addition, things are continuing to get worse for Ryan Schultz as the former IFL lightweight champion picked up his third straight loss against Kazunori Yokota. The bout was halted at 2:31 in the first round after Schultz violently hit the mat following a exchange on the feet with Yokota. The win was Yokota's fourth win in five fights. Schultz hasn't looked the same since the IFL folded. Schultz put together an impressive 7-2 mark with the promotion.

In other notable action, welterweight prospect Dan Hornbuckle continued to improve his stock picking up his fourth straight win and moving his career record to 19-2 by defeating the very experience and well traveled Nick Thompson. It was the second straight loss for Thompson, who was defeated by Tim Kennedy in his previous bout. World Victory Road may be angling at having Hornbuckle fight for the vacant Sengoku welterweight title by the end of the year.
